Capital Costs
Construction work was started in August 1991 under a firm-priced turnkey design and
construction agreement. The cost of the plant is estimated at £85 million (1991 prices),
including land purchase, Grid connection and other project development costs. To
maximise the competitiveness of the project, contractors were selected on an openbook
tendering basis, with cost auditors advising the project team.
